Web Interface
Everyday more people access the Internet from
work and from home. The friendly Web interface is in part responsible
for the growing number of users. It is intuitive and
easy to use.
The flexibility of Web architecture offers
many other great benefits besides its appealing, easy-to-learn interface.
A robust multi-tier architecture delivers security, scalability
and performance. Many software development companies
are now gearing their efforts towards the development
of Web-based applications. That benefits the end-users
as well as IT and financial administrators.
“Web-Based” or “Web-Faced”?
Understanding The Architecture
Not all applications that
can be accessed via a Web browser are true “Web-based” applications.
Don’t be fooled by a “Web-faced” application.
A Web-faced application is only a front end built over
an existing character-based technology. Sooner or later,
problems related to that old technology will occur, regardless
of its Web-faced front end.
On the other hand, true Web-based
applications are fully developed using the Web architecture,
from database servers to application servers to print
servers to browser front end. It’s Web to the core!
Our
products are built to exploit the strengths of the Internet.
By using separate software layers for database access, business
logic, printing logic and presentation logic we are able to
build systems that can be scaled economically to meet
any size demand. The systems can also be tuned for peak
performance by matching server performance to software
needs.
Database independence allows a customer to use
any commercially available relational database including,
but not limited to, shared Linux versions of PostgreSQL
and Oracle. Separate database servers can be used running
Linux, Unix or Microsoft operating systems, database
clusters are supported, as are multiple database servers.
Linux Intel servers for application software run Apache
Web services and can be easily clustered to meet performance
demands. Print services are via Crystal Enterprise Servers.
Invest in Web-Based Technology
Before you purchase or
upgrade your information systems, make sure you know how
they are designed and what foundation they are built
on. Information systems performance is achieved through
well designed applications using a solid Web-based architecture.
Don’t be fooled by a Web-faced
quick fix. Web facing your old character-based system
is equivalent to a cheap paint job on an old car
- it may only seem like a good idea for a short while.
Of course, your current vendor may tell you a different
story. You need to have the facts about architecture.
You deserve the results.
